Harvard grad Bethany Kanten helps bring electricity to remote parts of Africa

Posted on January 1, 2016 at 6:35 PM

Harvard graduate Bethany Kanten ('15) put her new skills in electrical engineering immediately to use. She went to Tanzania in Africa as an employee of Off-Grid Electric that brings electricity to remote areas. She had devoted her senior thesis project to developing a system that remotely monitored the energy generated by solar panels and transmitted important data via a text message so that broken links in the system could be quickly identified. Bethany is not only an enterprising and service-oriented young graduate but she was also a varsity soccer player where she played as a goalkeeper. See her Harvard profile here.
